The wide availability of standard GM/GS files is certainly cool if you own a GM-compatible keboard (like the Ketron SD1): playing a track it's just Load & Play.
However, if you are searching for some professional results, then you know you always have to edit sound settings. That's where usually the trouble begins.
In fact, most Ketron SD1 settings are written into midifiles as System Exclusive messages (i.e. obscure strings of hexadecimal values. For example, F0 26 7B 00 00 01 F7 sets Reverb 1 type to "Box_2".)
With Ketron SD1 professional editor, you can customize your midi files using only graphical tools.
· Pentium II Processor with 64 MB of RAM.
· 8 MB of free hard disk space and a screen resolution of 800x600 (1024x768 recommended.)
